Primary hepatic neuroendocrine carcinoma
A 67-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital under suspicion of a hepatic tumor, which had been previously diagnosed to be an adenocarcinoma by fine needle aspiration. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large tumor measuring 9 cm in diameter in Couinaud's hepatic segments 4, 5, and 8. We diagnosed the patient to have primary liver cancer, and suspected intrahepati...
متن کاملThe histogenesis of primary hepatic carcinoma.
The existence of hepatocellular and cholangiocellular carcinomata, arising from liver cells and bile duct epithelium respectively, has long been recognized, although the proportions of each type have varied in different series. Gustafson (1937) reported 39 liver cell and 11 bile duct tumours amongst 62 cases of primary liver carcinoma based on 24,400 necropsies, and Wilbur, Wood, and Willett (1...

متن کاملLiver Transplantation for Primary and Secondary Hepatic Malignancies: Radiologic Considerations
Hepatic carcinoma has been treated surgically by segmental resection and for 27 years by orthotopic liver transplantation. I II At the early period of its development, orthotopic liver transplantation had been considered to be the theoretical choice of treatment for patients with primary or secondary liver cancer. However, it has been found that there are limits to what this procedure can achie...
